Hi! I'd like to announce that Fisk and I are recompiling the current dsdoom, here's what have in store

- Better controls
- Fixed saving
- removal of doom shadow fading for an increase in FPS
- Iwad and Pwad selector
- Better user interface

Here is a small spoiler screenshot ;)




It May not look much different but, the doom shadow fading is gone! It may have looked fairly decent but... The new rendering (without doom shadow fading) increases FPS up to 35fps, Gives a more OpenGL feel to the software rendering and for detailed wads will look much clearer and cleaner, not to mention it will run REALLY fast!

Right now I can't really say... I'll get in contact with fisk and he'll fix whatever bugs that was left out in the previous build.
Hopefully we'll have a stable build by early July. Until then have fun with the current dsdoom :P

Right now we're just fixing up the various dsdoom problems. We might be able to copy/paste some of hexen's code into this later on. You'll be able to run certain zdoom wads. But as for Gzdoom wads... That probably won't happen anytime soon.
I'm remaking a GZdoom wad for dsdoom as we speak "TCoTDs" a remake of The City of The Damned 2 Apocolips.

By "fixed saving" you do mean the bug where saving or loading a file can cause the game to crash? Because that bug is what caused me to stop playing =\

Great to hear someone picked this up! Your efforts are GREATLY appreciated. If I may humbly request another feature, how about adding weapon icons to the touchscreen so you can more quickly switch weapons? Scrolling through each one can get pretty tedious. Also, with the current setup it is impossible to switch back to your fists if you have the chainsaw without picking up a berserker pack.

Thank you for returning to this project! I was really saddened when the DS port seemed to no longer be receiving updates. Then when the Wii version got canned I edged closer to suicide, but you kind sirs have saved my life! ;)

WOW, this is soooooooooooo good news I can't even believe it, I thought this project was long dead! Nice to have an Increased FPS, it was the low FPS that I didn't liked so much in the earlier versions of this project. Really nice to have some talent guys working on this again=D Thank you! Any word about music support? Have a nice day everyone!

This is great guys!

It would be awesome if you could implement full stylus controlls, say something like MP: Hunters. Music would also be wicked but not necceseary if it kills fps.(though again it would be wicked :P)

I'm keeping my eyes on this one as this s somethng the DS seems made for, sorta strange id havn't released it them selves... go figure.

Anyway keep up the good work! I hope you make good progress.

We won't ever really be able to get midi music to work... The licenses cost money, and its money we don't have.. However we did consider adding an mp3 code for this. We haven't really thought about stylus controls but that can easily be done. I'd like to thank you guys for all your support and feedback.
Until then, make some dsdoom mods and host em' here :P

TrueDoomer I could remove you're dumbass post, but its just too damn funny. If you consider removing the shadow fading ruining doom, than I guess you must hate every doom port that isn't vanilla, oh and by the way dsdoom is based on prboom. Now allow me to lower myself to your level by saying this. "Bitch u int got da balls, u notin but a stupid lil' cunt wit no life, MOTHA FUCKA! Nao go bak to yo complain'n bitch!" dedicated to TrueDoomer. Meh fuck this, I'll just IPban him.

I read that post from TrueDoomer and thought... well let's just say I thought.
(obvious troll or butthurt by the way, as some younger people would put it)
I'm to old and pressed for time to contribute anymore...
(It's been a while since DoomEd, about 15 years ago :( )
So I'll leave that in younger, if not more competent hands ;) It seems you've got the skills and the tools.

My first post as a member by the way,  hope you'll welcome me into the fold, even tough i can't bring anything new to the table.

Hi... I'm a newcomer around here, and I wanted to thank both of you for the effort : it's a great news I heard from DCemu !

On top of my wishlist, a Strife compatibility would be extremely fantastic but I know it's a massive modification that won't happen soon. But dreaming is good, isn't it ? :)

Glad to see you're aiming to imporve fps, even if that's not a big issue for me the games are already enjoyable but the more the better heh !

Talking about FPS, I managed to play DSheretic and I'm really impressed how good the port is in terms of performance and handling (good stylus use). I hope you'll surpass it.
