Hi! I'd like to announce that Fisk and I are recompiling the current dsdoom, here's what have in store

- Better controls
- Fixed saving
- removal of doom shadow fading for an increase in FPS
- Iwad and Pwad selector
- Better user interface

Here is a small spoiler screenshot ;)

It May not look much different but, the doom shadow fading is gone! It may have looked fairly decent but... The new rendering (without doom shadow fading) increases FPS up to 35fps, Gives a more OpenGL feel to the software rendering and for detailed wads will look much clearer and cleaner, not to mention it will run REALLY fast!

Re: Action Doom ds is coming!

June 27, 2009 by fanadicalcowhead

You'd be amazed of what you can do with boom stuff. I tested his demo version, it had all the graphics, enemies and weapons. And its easy to recreate with .bex dehacked. The maps aren't that hard to remake either. Its all a matter of substituting things. For the map01 boss, plenty of G1 doors and behind all of them was a commander keen which if you tag a door 666 (or 667) it will open. My point is just because there isn't acs doesn't mean you can improvise and unseen corners.
porting action doom is nothing compared to porting t667's TCoTD2 to the ds. And I'm managing that quite well.

I decided to go with phpbb, it offers more than lefora.

Re: Where we can download DOOM 64 1 & 2 for DS DOOM ??

June 12, 2009 by fanadicalcowhead

And for Doom 64 I ?

-madmaxou

There aren't versions of the doom64 for N64 on the ds yet.. After doom64 II, I might make a remake of doom64.

Re: DsDoom V1.1.3 in the works...

June 12, 2009 by fanadicalcowhead

You be not going to continue to work on the version 1.1.3?  [image]

-madmaxou

Says who? Fisk has decided to add tons of new features to this.. so expect something soon.

Yes Doom64 II is still in developement

Re: Feature requests

June 11, 2009 by fanadicalcowhead

Do you can make a compatibility for ALL .wad ? For example put the WAD of ZDOOM on DOOM DS ?
It's my question. [image]

-madmaxou

I don't think full zdoom compatibility will ever happen.. We might be able to add part of hexen's map code in there but nothing is for sure yet. We'd like to get the prboom glitches fixed first.

Re: Do you want a very a LOT of WAD ? COME HERE !!

June 10, 2009 by fanadicalcowhead

I think its a good start around here, but if I were you I'd start by either learning how to map or make sprites.
Check the Editing section for some tutorials and downloadable programs.

Don't be sorry, we all make mistakes sometimes :P

Re: Do you want a very a LOT of WAD ? COME HERE !!

June 9, 2009 by fanadicalcowhead

I'm moving this to re-releases since you didn't make any of these wads.

Re: Feature requests

June 9, 2009 by fanadicalcowhead

Madmax, the Iwad selector and No bug saves / loads are already implemented in v1.1.3.
Although I like the idea of quiting the game and having it go back to the wad loading menu. Zinnka we're looking into touch screen controls and weapon selecting.

TrueDoomer I could remove you're dumbass post, but its just too damn funny. If you consider removing the shadow fading ruining doom, than I guess you must hate every doom port that isn't vanilla, oh and by the way dsdoom is based on prboom. Now allow me to lower myself to your level by saying this. "Bitch u int got da balls, u notin but a stupid lil' cunt wit no life, MOTHA FUCKA! Nao go bak to yo complain'n bitch!" dedicated to TrueDoomer. Meh fuck this, I'll just IPban him.

Re: Feature requests

June 8, 2009 by fanadicalcowhead

We are curently looking into 1.)

Although 2.) you can just go to key bindings set the autorun key then go to quit game (so that it saves the controls) and thats it.

number 3.) is already complete.

Feature requests

June 7, 2009 by fanadicalcowhead

Post you're feature requests here.

Re: The Dsdoom Community project

June 7, 2009 by fanadicalcowhead

We're always in need of some nice textures. Perhaps you'd like to do them?

Re: DsDoom V1.1.3 in the works...

June 7, 2009 by fanadicalcowhead

We won't ever really be able to get midi music to work... The licenses cost money, and its money we don't have.. However we did consider adding an mp3 code for this. We haven't really thought about stylus controls but that can easily be done. I'd like to thank you guys for all your support and feedback.
Until then, make some dsdoom mods and host em' here :P

Re: DsDoom V1.1.3 in the works...

June 5, 2009 by fanadicalcowhead

Right now we're just fixing up the various dsdoom problems. We might be able to copy/paste some of hexen's code into this later on. You'll be able to run certain zdoom wads. But as for Gzdoom wads... That probably won't happen anytime soon.
I'm remaking a GZdoom wad for dsdoom as we speak "TCoTDs" a remake of The City of The Damned 2 Apocolips.

We haven't really gotten that far yet, Although I'll make a Feature request thread in the dsdoom development category.

This is a super mario conversion for dsdoom made by linkofhyrule. this is just another silly graphics conversion that really doesn't do anything except for giving you a head ache, there are no new maps just awfully done sprites combined with nes sounds. Its a shame that the author didn't make any maps because maybe then it may have been worth playing.

How it looks : 4.5/10
It looks pretty mediocre...

How it plays : N/A
Nothing about the gameplay is different.

Overall : 4.5/10
Not worth the download.

Nine maps for Doom 2, that closely resemble the original maps from Episode 1 of Doom. There are areas from the original maps used throughout, although there are some entirely new areas. The Plasma gun and BFG are replaced with a rifle and machine gun. I suppose this is to fit in with the Episode 1 theme, which had no BFG or Plasma. There's a small number of custom monsters used, including replacements for E1M8's Barons. The difficulty level is pretty low, and it's easy to overflow with ammo without even trying. Detail level is slightly above average. Overall this isn't a bad mapset to spend some time on, but don't expect anything amazing.

How it looks : 7.0/10
It looks pretty decent.

How it Plays : 7.5/10
It's just like the original Doom, nothing's really changed comparing to the original except for a large amount of monsters and keys that were not in the original. It'll feel like you haven't even downloaded any wad at all.

Overall : 8/10
You'll feel right at home with this remake.

Well, all I can say is that this demo was awesome. In my opinion the sound is far Superior than that of the showcase demo! Well ,some bugs have been fixed which is a good thing. The only problem is that the game has some slowdowns, which isn't a surprise considering dsdoom is slow! I honestly Can't wait for the final version!!!

how it looks:9/10
The weapons animation are the best that I've seen in dsdoom! Just download it, you wont regret it.

how it plays:9/10
The controls just keep getting better, the demo isnt that difficult so its worth downloading and playing!

overall:9/10
When the complete wad comes out, remember DOWNLOAD it!

I don't have doom2 D: were do I get it?
